Responsibilities

Job Purpose

 The Swim Coach is responsible for sharing their passion for swimming by coaching the summer swim team and teaching individual and group swim lessons. Swim Coaches enjoys interacting with members and guests to promote the swim program, classes, and activities. Under the direction of management, the Swim Coach serves an important role in scheduling and coordinating member and guest swim classes and events.

 

Responsibilities

  • Direct, supervise, and coach a competitive summer swim team
  • Plan and organize team practice sessions, swim meets and team activities
  • Train Assistant Coaches
  • Attend, integrate and works with team at swim meets and team events
  • Interact with parents and conducts information sessions
  • Help maintain pool appearance and orders supplies
  • Conduct team evaluations at the end of the competitive season
  • Respond immediately to any emergency following proper CPR, First Aid or Lifeguard Training methods as indicated
  • Other duties may be assigned by management

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Current CPR training and certification required
  • Proven ability to motivate swimmers and parents in a positive manner
  • Must demonstrate personal and professional organization and ability to coach different age levels
  • Must have good leadership and communication skills
  • Interest and ability to work with children
  • Prior experience managing, evaluating and training subordinates preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate with members, guests, co-workers and management
  • Valid Driver’s License required

 

Education

  • Current USA Swimming and ASCA Certification
  • A minimum of 2 years of coaching experience

Working Conditions

  • Days and hours of work vary by schedule and business needs.
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday work will be required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for long periods of time, to walk, read, hear, talk, balance, climb, use hands, use fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, smell, taste, push or pull. The employee may be required to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
